Hoop Dance

Grades 1-5

This new dance form is referred to as simply “Hoop Dance” and refers to artistic movement and dancing with a hoop (or hoops) used as a prop or dance partner. Hoop dancers frequently rotate the hoop around parts of the body. Modern hooping has taken ideas from diverse art forms such as rhythmic gymnastics, hip-hop, freestyle dance, fire dance, twirling, and other dance and movement forms. Children’s size dance hoops will be used during the class each week. There is a rental fee included for the hoops. Decorative hoops may be purchased to take home for practice and to keep at the end of the course.

Note: Tuition for the Hoop Dance course is $176.00, which includes a $2.00 hoop rental fee per class. If a child owns a dance hoop, or wishes to purchase one for $32.00, the tution rate is reduced to $160.00 for the course.
