Magic Tree House Book Club with Ms. Burton

Grades 1-2

Experience adventure led by Jack and Annie as they travel through time in their magic tree house.  This session we will read Winter of the Ice Wizard together. Each week we’ll enjoy a snack and a special activity to go with the story. All reading levels are welcome. Cost includes your own copy of the book. No homework, just fun!

Payment Information:  Please bring check payable to 'Cassidy Burton' to the first day of class.  Fee includes the book.

Robotics Engineering I

Grades K-1

Learn about robotics from someone that builds robots! This is the perfect way to introduce you child to the growing field of robotics. Through interaction with robots, kids will learn about what makes one robot different from another, how different terrain can affect robots and how well they move. Hands-on activities will breakdown different parts that make robots move in a simple way that will allow everyone to understand and learn how these different parts work. These activities also build on the confidence and imagination of every child as an individual and as a group with their classmates.

Robotics Engineering II

Grades 2-5

Ready to begin exploring the wonders of the field of robotics. This Introduction to Robotics will teach students through hands-on learning about the three main fields that go into robotics. We will use robots and various pieces that go into robots to build a solid foundation of understanding in robotics. We will have in class exercises for an introduction to programming, the various motors that can be used, common sensors and robots on other planets.

Extreme Exercise Winter Edition with Mr. McNeil

Grades 3-5

Trying to stay active but stuck indoors? Join Extreme Exercise to learn different activities to help keep your body moving and stay prepared for spring sports! We will keep a log of our workouts and track our improvement throughout the program by completing a variety of fitness tests. Stay EXTREME!

Chess Club

Grades 1-5

Playing chess brings out abilities that often have not been reached by traditional educational means.  Chess promotes logical thinking, instills a sense of self-confidence, and improves communication and pattern recognition skills.  And it’s fun!  Lessons will be conducted using a chess demonstration board, chess boards and pieces for the students to practice with, and worksheets to reinforce the concepts learned.
