Spring 2013 After School Enrichment Catalog

Chess Club

Grades 1-5

Playing chess brings out abilities that often have not been reached by traditional educational means.  Chess promotes logical thinking, instills a sense of self-confidence, and improves communication and pattern recognition skills.  And it’s fun!  Lessons will be conducted using a chess demonstration board, chess boards and pieces for the students to practice with, and worksheets to reinforce the concepts learned. Collaborative discussions and analysis will be encouraged to develop problem solving, decision-making, and team building skills.  Students will be divided by age and ability so no one will get bored or feel intimidated.  Visit http://www.olympiachess.com  or contact info@olympiachess.org  for more information.
