Rising Stars Leadership Workshop

Grades 3-5

Rising Stars is a personal development and leadership program to give today's youth confidence and skills to reach their potential. Through role play, exercises, discussion and games, students are exposed in fun and enlightening ways. The end result is that boys and girls transition beyond the traditional approach to learning and start applying knowledge, and therefore, taking control of their own destiny.

Note:  Lorraine Nordlinger will be available from 6:30-7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 5th in the Glebe multipurpose room -- just prior to that evening's PTA meeting -- to discuss the Rising Stars programs with any interested students and/or parents.

South African Drumming and Dance

Grades 3-5

South African dance and drumming will come alive at Glebe School! In this class students will focus on counting, dance patterns and team work.  Lesole’s Dance Project (LDP) highlights the unique qualities of contemporary modern and Afro-Fusion dance and provides educational programs on the movement and history of popular traditional South African dances.  Some students will remember Lesole from his working with them on drumming and dance for this years SMART project.

Rugby I with Mr. Fernandez

Grades 1-2

Led by Glebe’s own Nick Fernandez, players will go over the rules of Touch Rugby as well as the fundamentals of passing, kicking and running in proper lines. No tackling or scrimmaging is involved.

Girls Soccer with Ms. Schwartz and Ms. Burton

Grades K-4

Ms. Schwartz and Ms. Burton will be running a Girls Only Soccer Club after school on Mondays! They will be working on basic soccer skills and playing fun games. Girls in grades K-4 are welcome to join in on the action and practice those soccer moves!

Fitness, Food and Fun with Ms. Kushner, Ms. Sydney, Ms. Rutzen, Ms. Gutowski and Ms. Scogna

Grades K-5

Fitness, Food, and Fun will be just that! Class will meet twice a week to run, cook, and keep healthy with fun activities. Students will be split into groups weekly based on different criteria such as gender, age, or ability. Our 8-week class will culminate with a 5k race and a healthy party.

Grades K-2

This karate program teaches students proper form, style, technique, and discipline which inspire higher levels of respect, motivation, and self-confidence.  Various student levels can be accommodated.  We will still hold belt exams, which includes a certificate of completion and a belt. If your child is invited to take a belt exam, there is no additional fee. Hip Hop Dance with Mr. Gray

Grades 1-5

Students will have an opportunity to learn basic hip-hop skills and choreographed dances with Mr. Gray. We will be combining different dance techniques and putting together energetic routines step-by-step. This is the perfect class for kids who love to dance.

The Junior Engineering class is designed to introduce younger boys and girls to concepts such as an assembly line process, simple machinery in a hands-on setting, time management and production efficiency. All while having fun with age-appropriate activities such as making ice cream, egg collision challenge, manufacturing mini books and more!
