Holiday Gift Making with Ms. Hall and Ms. West

Are you crafty? Do you enjoy making gifts and being creative? This is the activity for you! Join us in making a variety of holiday gifts for your family and friends. Each week we will be making a different themed craft. By the end of the program you will have a collection of handmade gifts that will be wrapped and ready to give out just in time for the holiday season.

Piano 4 Keys
Grades 1-5
This group piano class studies hands-on piano and music theory. Your child will work closely with the teacher to follow a carefully planned sequence that guarantees fun and success in a playful group atmosphere. The instructor will teach how to count rhythm, identify notes, and play common melodies on the white and black keys of the piano. Students who have taken this class previously will advance to Book 2 and begin to learn how to read notes on the staff in C and Middle C position with more advanced songs to play. Offered by Piano Keys 4 Kids (PK4K). Note: Tuition includes a workbook. Roll-up keyboards are provided for class instruction, but they can also be purchased for an additional $30 for the student to take home.

Clayworks with Ms. Westergren & Ms. Lewis
Grades 3-5
Clay seems to have a mysterious attraction to almost everyone. It can be pinched, poked, rolled, squeezed etc. into limitless amazing creations. We will spend time in Clayworks learning basic techniques for working with clay: pinching, coil building, slab building etc. We will also use two different surface color techniques, glaze and paint. Students will get a tour of the kiln room and use shaping tools made just for clay.

Main Stage Theater Production
**This class is held on BOTH Monday and Tuesday – Student must attend both days**
**Registration only provides entrance into the lottery for this program, and does not guarantee participation. Final participants will be chosen via lottery and announced on September 23rd**
We are excited to announce the return of the Educational Theatre Company's Main Stage Residency Program. This year's original musical will be "Tail of a Trickster", a musical based on traditional Catawba stories. Students in grades 2 thru 5 will create and perform a full-length musical. Students participating in this class will develop their own characters, write the script to the show, develop song lyrics, and create costumes and backgrounds. Classes will meet every Monday and Tuesday from 3:45pm - 5:30pm. Participants may only miss 2 classes to remain eligible to participate in the program. All participants must plan to attend technical workshops on Saturday, November 18 and Saturday December 2 from 9:30AM - 12:00PM. The final week of rehearsals will be during the week of December 4th in the evening (5:30 - 8:30) and the performances will be held on the evenings of December 7 and 8 – students must be available from 5:30 – 9PM on both of these nights. Girls' Run Club with Ms. Pertl and Ms. Roberts
Grades 4-5
Ms. Roberts and Ms. Pertl are excited to once again offer an after-school running club for 4th and 5th grade girls! As the weather gets warmer, we’ll enjoy the outdoors while exercising together. Each session will include a warm up, a short run at school/through the neighborhoods, a cool down, and a healthy snack. A club T-shirt will also be provided. This club is open to all fitness levels - we’ll keep it fun, social, and motivating!

American Sign Language with Glebe Librarian, Ms. Frantz

The American Sign Language (ASL) Club is for students to learn about the deaf culture and how to communicate in American Sign Language. Some of the lessons will include: alphabet, numbers, days of the week, common phrases/sayings, food, animals, and many more! During the club, we will be able to practice using the various signs through games and group activities. All former students are welcome--they receive different lessons/instruction.
